Organic Borage Oil

Joyful’s organic borage oil contains the highest concentration of GLA (gamma linolenic acid) of all of the specialty seed oils at 18-26%. GLA is considered conditionally essential in people with a poor diet or certain physiological conditions or both. Borage oil’s high GLA content provides relief from women’s disturbing symptoms associating with menopause such as breast tenderness, hot flashes, and emotional distress.
Studies show that supplementation with GLA increases eicosanoid and prostaglandin E1 synthesis resulting in anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative effects. Tests evaluating the effect of GLA on atopic dermatitis show that there is an alleviation of the severity of symptoms in children. Borage oil improves skin tone, skin moisture retention, and relieves itching of dry skin in elderly adults making borage oil an excellent choice as a base for skin creams or cosmetic emulsions.
